Local Law Firm’s New Hire leads to donation
of $15,000 to the Raleigh Rescue Mission
For immediate release:
Raleigh, NC – Just over a year ago, seasoned attorney Beth Leone opened a new law firm with her partners Carridy Bender and Jennifer Seate. From the beginning, the partners decided that they were going to operate their law firm in a different fashion. Senior partner Beth Leone says, “In addition to serving our clients, we wanted to give back to the community.” As part of this plan, they recently donated $15,000 to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. But the story that led up to their donation started 5 months ago with the hire of a new employee.
When an Administrative Assistant positioned opened up at the firm, over one hundred applications were received. During the interview process a candidate by the name of Sarah James caught Beth’s attention. Although Sarah did not have a lot of office experience, she more than made up for it with the determination and pride she showed in what she had to offer. “I asked her where she got such great interviewing skills and she told me about the ‘Today’s Office Program’ offered by the Raleigh Rescue Mission.” Beth continued, “I was so impressed with how well they had prepared Sarah for her interview that I called the mission and spoke with the instructor to learn more about the program.”
In the next few weeks, Beth went on an arranged a tour of the mission. She learned of the wonderful work the staff does everyday to help train people for the workforce and empower them to get off of the streets and improve their lives. After the tour, the partners felt that they wanted to do more to with the organization. “We decided that a donation in Sarah’s honor, of sorts, would recognize her achievements and give other people an opportunity that they might not have otherwise,” reflected partner Jennifer Seate. “We had a good year and wanted to share it with an organization that we saw, first hand, have a tremendous affect on peoples’ lives,” added partner Carridy Bender.
“Sarah has been with us for 5 months now. She handles a variety of secretarial and administrative functions on client’s cases including contact with our clients and medical providers,” Beth said. “We have all been enriched by this experience. I look forward to working closely with the Raleigh Rescue Mission in the future.”
